For as long as I can remember, I’ve worked on creative projects. From writing stories and illustrating them as a child, to making clothing for my Barbies, I found joy in making things. The projects changed from coloring to friendship bracelets to braided ribbon barrettes (I was a child of the 80’s!).
Remember these?
I focused on art in high school and volunteered for set design/creation for the school musicals. Once I arrived at Drexel University to study Fashion Design, I discovered the key to creativity. We were encouraged to design anything we wanted – as long as we could figure out a way to execute it. This approach fostered a creative approach paired with practical application.
Project from Drexel in 1995: Transform cotton gingham into an evening gown
In my life now, I try to incorporate as much creativity as possible. I try to look at most things through an artful lens – food, crafts, photography, home decor. I started this blog to share some of my ideas and hopefully show that everyone has the capacity to be creative – you just have to open yourself to trial and error.
A more recent project – reclaimed an old door by staining and gold-leafing, then embellishing with beautiful illustration cards
