Cape Falcon Hike – Oregon Coast

A Winter’s Day at the Coast (ringing out 2013)

A Winter’s Day at the Coast (ringing out 2013)

It seemed appropriate to usher one of the worst years of my life at a peaceful and centering place. I headed to the Oregon Coast with Dana and Dodger to breathe in some fresh air, exhale the bad, and throw the ball (for Dodger of course). What a healing place the coast is for me. The calming sounds of the ocean, the salty air, the beauty all around, remind me that no matter what is going on in my life, there is always a place to go to recharge. Breathe in. Breathe out.

Beating the heat at Cannon Beach

Portland is experiencing high temps this September – in the 90’s.  In order to beat the heat, I fled the city and headed to Cannon Beach with my friend Georgia.  It was one of the most beautiful days I’ve ever experienced on an Oregon Coast.  Sunny, not a cloud in the sky, able to stand in the water knee deep.  At one point, I was even considering putting on a bathing suit and plunging in (that thought quickly dissipated after the water temps dropped in the afternoon).  Here are some of my favorite photos from the day.

A coastal excursion

Yesterday I went to the Oregon Coast with my friend Dana and her adorable dog Dodger.  We hiked the Cape Falcon trail south of Cannon Beach.  The weather was surprisingly wonderful.  After our hike we took Dodger to the beach for the first time.  If you have never seen the total and complete joy on the face of a dog at the beach, I suggest you borrow a furry friend and head to the coast now.  It’s good for the soul.
