In Portland, we have a wonderful resource called SCRAP Creative Reuse Center. They accept donations of a wide variety of things and encourage the community to use them in creative ways. Yesterday I took a trip there with visions of potential projects in my head. I made a beeline to the home decorator sample fabric books and found two with lots of beautiful patterns and colors. Next, off to the scrap wood. I found 2 sample cabinet doors that you typically find in home decorating stores. I thought they would be a wonderful backdrop for some hanging wall art. After paying $7 for my finds, I was off to get started on my projects. Here is the first of two projects.

after cutting the decor fabric to size, I started the beading
beading is complete
Yarn creates a border to cover the fabric edges
A final touch of beading on the yarn border and it’s done!
Wow, great use of products!! I’ve got to check out scrap, I had no idea!
You have to search, but it’s amazing what you can be inspired by. And everything is so reasonably priced. 🙂
